Following a Newborn Hearing Screening, some babies are referred for additional hearing testing. Finding an audiologist who is familiar with working with babies and who has the right equipment to complete this testing is critical. Completing this hearing test should be done as quickly as possible because it may take several testing sessions to obtain all of the information you need to know how your baby is hearing. The CDC’s Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program’s guidelines recommend the importance of having all of this testing completed by 3 months of age. That means your baby can not wait three or four months for a hearing test. If you are having trouble getting scheduled quickly, be sure to contact Beginnings MD right away. Our Parent Educators will work with your family to be sure your baby is scheduled quickly and appropriately.
